Job summary

The City of New York’s Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges, is seeking a Supervisor Carpenter at 300 West 206th Street, Manhattan. You will supervise carpenters, interpret blueprints, and ensure work meets project specifications and safety standards.

This role focuses on coordinating activities with project managers, training staff, and supporting material procurement while maintaining quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of recent, satisfactory carpenter experience, at least two years in supervisory duties.
• Satisfactory equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of carpenters and other assigned personnel.
• Plan, assign and review work to meet project specifications and quality standards.
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and project documents to guide carpentry tasks.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of carpentry tools, equipment, and materials.
• Monitor work progress and adjust schedules as needed.
• Inspect completed work for safety and code compliance.
• Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to carpenters.
• Enforce safety protocols and promote a safe work environment.
• Communicate with project managers, contractors, and other trades to coordinate activities.
• Assist with material procurement and inventory management for carpentry needs.
