Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division seeks a dedicated Music Program Instructor to work with children and adults in the corps and community, planning and delivering theory, performance, and values-based instruction as part of a structured curriculum.

You will lead weekly lessons, coordinate recitals, and collaborate with corps leadership to involve participants in public performances and end-of-year concerts, fostering teamwork, discipline, and spiritual development through music.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in music preferred or extensive teaching experience.
• Minimum of two years’ music experience working with children/adults.
• Performance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead music and other arts programs within the corps, planning weekly lesson schedules and delivering the curriculum.
• Plan and attend all recitals at the corps and prep programs for year-end concert.
• Encourage participants toward goals, developing musical abilities and self-esteem.
• Help organize performances and community activities to promote the corps' mission.
• Support summer camps and divisional/music day camps planning and participation.
• All other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree in music
