Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is seeking a Music Program Instructor to lead music and arts programs at the corps level. The role involves weekly lesson planning, curriculum implementation, and coordinating Bravo recitals, with a focus on developing participants’ musical skills and self-esteem.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in music or equivalent teaching experience, and at least two years of music experience with children or adults.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in music preferred, or extensive teaching experience in lieu of education.
• Minimum of two years’ music experience with children/adults.
• Performance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead music and arts programs within the corps as assigned and plan weekly lesson curricula.
• Plan and attend Bravo recitals and prepare corps music programs for the Bravo concert each school year.
• Encourage participants to develop musical skills and self-esteem through goal-oriented activities.
• Support community awareness of the Corps through music performances and activities.
• Encourage participation in summer camps and divisional music camps; plan camper involvement.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
