Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is seeking a dedicated music program coordinator to work with children and adults in corps and community settings. You will plan and implement a comprehensive music program, teach theory and performance, and foster values through music education.

You will lead weekly lessons, coordinate curricula, and organize performances and summer activities that align with the corps mission, while encouraging participants to grow in talent, self-esteem,

Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in music theory and in a primary instrument.
• Personal knowledge of music, including performance, education, and theory.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Must be a team player, self-starter, and follow through with assignments until completion.
• A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.
• A strong commitment to support and promote the mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

• Lead music and arts programs within the corps and community as assigned.
• Plan weekly music lessons and implement the curriculum for classes.
• Attend recitals and help prepare programs for year-end concerts.
• Encourage participants to develop musical skills and self-esteem through activities.
• Support community awareness of The Salvation Army's mission through music programs.
