Job description

Are you a content leader who still writes and ships work yourself every week? Have you run a content calendar you can show, with numbers you can define? This could be your next seat.

The company

Fast-growing enterprise drone reseller and services company in the Valley in Los Angeles, California, with about $40M in annual revenue and about 30 people. Sell, deploy and support drones, docked autonomous systems, payloads and software for public safety, utilities, construction and survey, agriculture and inspection, across two brands. Most of what they sell is a considered purchase that closes through a sales rep after a conversation and a quote. Their services division installs and manages docked drone programs for agencies and utilities, and it's the fastest-growing part of the business.

The role

You'll own how both brands look, sound and explain themselves, everywhere a customer or sales rep meets them. You'll also build and run the weekly process that produces that content. You'll report to the CEO and work closely with the COO.

  • Own brand and voice for two brands, and keep them distinct. The second brand needs a strategy of its own. The flagship needs consistency across everything it already says.
  • Build and run a content calendar the whole business can see. It covers website pages and articles, social, video and photography, and email campaigns. You'll plan it, ship it, review it and report what it did.
  • Write, and lead the people who make the work. Product pages, landing pages, articles, case studies and email copy are yours to write or edit to a standard. Writers, designers, photographers, videographers and outside agencies report to you, and you decide what's good enough to ship.
  • Make the services offering easy to understand and easy to buy. A fire chief or utility operations manager should read your content, understand what a managed drone program does for them, and ask for a conversation.
  • Equip the sales team. Sales materials, quote templates, one-pagers and product explainers are as much your work as the website.
  • Raise the floor on quality. Nothing goes out with a broken link, a wrong product, a wrong number or a typo.
  • Partner across teams. You'll build email marketing with the E-commerce & Technology Lead and supply content to the paid media team (paid media isn't part of this role).
What you bring
  • You've built and run a multi-channel content calendar yourself, and you can show it and the numbers behind it.
  • You write well, long-form and short, for an expert buyer who often knows their field better than you do.
  • You've managed writers, designers, photographers, videographers or agencies to a standard. That includes a time the work came back wrong, and you can say what you did next.
  • You've marketed a considered purchase or B2B product where the goal is a qualified conversation, not a checkout.
  • You're precise. When you quote a number, you can say what it measures, over what period, and where it came from.
Nice to have:

hands-on Shopify and Klaviyo (or a similar email platform), video production and editing, design fluency, technical or hardware marketing, running more than one brand at once, or experience with public-safety or government audiences.

Ideal background:

an in-house content lead or marketing manager at a 20-200 person B2B technology or hardware company. Think industrial equipment, security/AV, professional imaging, aerospace and defense, or specialty e-commerce with a B2B side.
