Job summary

Hawthorne Cat in Escondido, CA is seeking a Branch Manager to oversee daily operations and drive rental revenue growth in line with Caterpillar business plans. You will focus on financial and time utilization, sales performance, and delivering targets while maintaining a safe, efficient shop and yard.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in the construction equipment industry, at least 2 years in supervision, and strong sales and customer service skills, with knowledge of equipment rental

Responsibilities

• Oversee safety matters including audits, training, OSHA/DOT compliance, and testing.
• Code and approve authorized accounts payable invoices.
• Assist customers with equipment needs and service requirements.
• Negotiate rental rates with customers.
• Ensure daily billings are completed.
• Support Corp Rental Manager in inventory acquisition and disposition.
• Maintain adequate phone coverage and opening/closing procedures.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for all daily activities associated with branch of responsibility in a manner consistent with delivering Hawthorne and Caterpillar annual business plans, goals and objectives. A special focus and emphasis on rental revenue growth, financial and time utilization, and sales rep performance is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Overall supervision, development, and performance management of branch personnel.
• Deliver annual R2R, HR, and rental roll out revenue targets.
• Ensure safe, efficient shop and yard practices are being observed at all times.
• Utilization of IRents reports such as Return to Ready to ensure maximum fleet availability.
• Oversee all safety matters, including audits, safety training, OSHA compliance, DOT regulations and drug and alcohol testing.
• Code and approve authorized accounts payable invoices.
• Assists customers with all equipment needs.
• Assists customers with equipment service needs
• Negotiates rental rates with customers.
• Ensures billings are completed daily
• Assist Corp Rental Manager in acquisition and disposing of inventory (both Cat & Allied)
• Ensure adequate phone coverage is maintained at all times and oversee compliance with opening and closing procedures.
• Ensures all deposit policies and procedures are being followed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Must Have 3 to 5 Years of experience in Construction Equipment Industry
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Strong sales and customer service experience.
• Knowledge and experience in the equipment rental industry preferred.
• An understanding of business accounting principles and budget preparation.
• Organizational and communication skills.

• Climbing: In and out of equipment.
• Vision: Reads rental documents and computer screens.

• Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
• Temp/Weather: Works in an office environment and outside with variations of temperature and weather.
