Job summary

The Whatcom County Library System is hiring a Branch Manager I for the Point Roberts Library, with required weekly shifts at Blaine Library. The role directs all branch operations, supervises staff, and fosters community outreach while aligning services with system-wide priorities. A bachelor's degree and several years of leadership in libraries are expected.

CRC background check is required. Typical schedule is 40 hours per week with some shifts at Blaine Library; candidates should be prepared

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in reference and reader's advisory services.
• Ability to manage a branch and supervise staff.
• Experience with community partnerships and outreach.
• Knowledge of collection management and library systems.

Responsibilities

• Public Services: develop and improve services for diverse patrons; coordinate with system priorities.
• Staff supervision: supervise, train, evaluate and recognize staff; ensure customer service excellence.
• Community outreach: establish partnerships with schools, volunteers, and community groups.
• Branch operations: coordinate with IT, Collection Services and Admin; balance branch collection.
• Branch administration: assist with budgets and policy adherence; support staff.
• Promotes core values and intellectual freedom; provide leadership and collaboration.
