Job summary

Kent District Library seeks a part-time Circulation Clerk to support patron services at the Walker location. The role involves checking materials in/out, processing fines, and registering new patrons while maintaining accurate records in the library system.

You will assist with shelving, book drops, and basic reference tasks, guiding patrons to digital resources and helping with equipment usage. Strong communication and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous library or retail experience preferred.
• Basic clerical skills including computer and telephone proficiency.
• Interpersonal and communication skills for staff and customers.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to work with supervision and follow policies.

Responsibilities

• Check in/out materials and collect money for fines or lost items.
• Maintain shelves, sort materials, and manage book drops.
• Enter patron data and update library records accurately in the system.
• Handle mail routing and inter‑library communications.
• Assist patrons with locating materials and using digital resources.
• Provide basic instruction on equipment like copiers, printers, and online catalogs.
