Job summary

Portage County District Library is seeking a part-time Library Associate I to perform circulation duties and assist patrons. The role requires strong customer service and basic computer skills, with some evenings and weekends. Opportunities exist for career ladder to Library Associate II and involvement in Youth Service activities.

Average 20 hours per week, hourly, non-exempt, bargaining unit status. This position is governed by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement with District

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalency is required.
• Customer service skills and ability to learn basic computer skills.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in written and oral form.

Responsibilities

• Check library materials in and out using the automated system.
• Maintain patron records, including issuing library cards and collecting fines.
• Answer telephones and direct patrons to appropriate areas of the library.
• Assist in Youth Service area as necessary and participate in special projects.
• Perform routine circulation duties and prepare reports such as supply orders and inventory.
