Job summary

Kent District Library in Grand Rapids, MI seeks a part-time Circulation Clerk to support patron services at multiple branches. You will check items in/out, register patrons, and handle payments.

This role requires strong customer service and basic clerical skills. Responsibilities include shelf maintenance, processing holds and inter-library loan requests, assisting with digital resources, and guiding patrons in using the online catalog and eReader devices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in library or retail helpful.
• Basic clerical and computer skills.
• Customer service oriented.
• Ability to work with supervision.

Responsibilities

• Check in/out library materials and issue cards.
• Handle lost/damaged item payments and reconcile funds.
• Maintain shelves, process holds and interlibrary loans.
• Assist patrons with finding materials and using digital resources.
• Demonstrate eReader devices and assist with online catalogs.
• Provide information on circulation policies.
• Operate cash register and process transactions.
• Travel between locations as needed.
