Job summary

Newburyport Bank, a community bank, seeks an Assistant Branch Manager to oversee daily branch operations, coach staff, and maintain exceptional customer service. The role emphasizes integrity, collaboration, and progressive leadership within the River Run shared services framework.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in retail banking, supervisory experience, and strong knowledge of branch systems and office software.

Qualifications

High school diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of retail banking and/or customer service experience; supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of branch operations and systems, proficiency in basic office software, and ability to work at any branch location as needed.

Responsibilities

Leads, coaches, trains, and develops branch staff through regular feedback, one-on-ones, performance reviews, cross-training, and disciplinary action as needed.
Oversees daily branch operations, including staffing and scheduling, opening/closing procedures, night deposits, transactions, account maintenance, cash/ATM functions, audits, reports, timecards, policy exceptions and overrides.
Partners with management to achieve branch sales goals, develop sales strategies, and strengthen customer relationships through needs-based conversations, product recommendations, and referrals.
Represents the Bank at networking, volunteer, and community events to strengthen relationships and support business development.
Maintains current knowledge of products, policies, procedures, and regulations; ensures compliance with requirements.
