Job summary

Owen County Schools is seeking an Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach in directing interscholastic athletics. The role includes assisting with practice planning, game management, and athlete development, while promoting the athletic program within the school and community.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, the ability to organize sports programs, and a willingness to meet KHSAA qualifications and background checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Preferred experience working with children.
• Must pass criminal background check and CAN check.
• Must meet KHSAA qualifications.
• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Knowledge of sport theory and ongoing learning is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Coach and provide support as needed.
• Interpret regulations and ensure staff compliance.
• Maintain proper communication and attend meetings.
• Prepare and coordinate scheduled sports events and practices.
• Communicate with athletes, parents, administrators, and Head Coach.
• Oversee and safeguard equipment, inventory, and purchasing.
• Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of facilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
• Provide training rules and enforce sport regulations for athletes.
• Assist with eligibility and compliance for student-athletes.
• Be present at practices, games, and travel to supervise athletes.
• Report injuries and submit proper forms within 24 hours.
• Enforce discipline during contests and travel.
• Promote safety and well-being of student-athletes.
• Monitor progress and help develop skills and character.
• Lead the team and foster a positive culture.
