Job summary

Qualifications

• Has a broad ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport. (Major sports)
• The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.

Responsibilities

• Has a thorough knowledge of athletic policies and ensures staff compliance.
• Understands the proper administrative line of command and follows proper channels for requests or grievances.
• Establishes philosophy and conducts staff conferences, clinics and meetings to maintain program awareness.
• Trains and informs staff, encourages professional growth via clinics and ongoing education.
• Delegates duties, supervises implementation and evaluates assistants at season end.
• Maintains discipline and morale; handles grievances and staff relations.
• Assists athletic director with scheduling, transportation, and tournament preparation.
• Prepares for events respecting facility times and coordinates with maintenance and school staff.
• Provides documentation for athletic eligibility and medical forms; assures safety of equipment.
• Advises on policy changes and program improvements with athletic director.
