Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a Production Assistant 1 to support the Production department with daily routing, loading/unloading, and safe handling of donated materials. The role emphasizes strict adherence to routes, schedules, and safety procedures.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and strong time management with good communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Clean driving record is required.
• Strong time management and customer service skills are essential.
• Ability to operate equipment used for daily route information.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow daily routing directions and stay on route unless directed otherwise.
• Complete routes within the approved schedule; 100% completion daily.
• Load and unload the truck safely; assist with others as needed.
• Handle donated material with safety procedures and PPE.
• Train and supervise truck helper in the program and work habits.
• Tag parcels as instructed by supervisor and procedures.
• Perform pre- and post-checks; report issues to supervisor.
• Provide courteous customer service and report donor problems to dispatch.
• Report accidents involving vehicle or injuries immediately.
• Comply with DOT regulations and state/local laws; attend safety meetings.
• Report safety infractions to the Transportation Supervisor.
• Adhere to meal/rest breaks per state law and policy.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
