Job summary

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center & Thrift Stores in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a part-time Box Truck Driver (18 hours/week). Pay is $20.00 per hour with schedule M-F and some weekends.

Join a team delivering donated items and serving the community. You will handle pickups, ensure safety, and provide excellent donor service while upholding ARC policies.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent required.
• At least two years of licensed driving experience.
• Must pass pre-employment DOT screen, drug test, and background check.

Responsibilities

• Transport & logistics: follow routing, drive Salvation Army truck for pickups/deliveries, inspect vehicles, comply with DOT/OSHA.
• Customer service: act as representative, treat donors courteously, communicate donation policies, report issues.
• Operations support: use DSS and iPad apps, mentor beneficiaries, load/unload, wear PPE, report safety concerns.

Box Truck Driver - Local & Surrounding Areas

Pay: $20.00 per hour Job Type: Part-time, Regular Schedule: 18 hours per week, M-F, some weekends possible

You'll represent The Salvation Army with professionalism, provide outstanding donor service, and ensure the safe and efficient transportation of donated items that support our mission.

What You’ll Do

Transportation & Logistics

• Follow scheduled routing procedures efficiently
• Drive Salvation Army truck for pickups and deliveries
• Ensure security and safe handling of all goods and materials
• Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles
• Comply with all DOT and OSHA regulations
• Train and Certify New Production Assistants/Drivers

Customer Service

• Act as a personal representative of The Salvation Army
• Ensure all donors are treated courteously and respectfully
• Communicate donation acceptance policy with donors
• Report any pickup problems to dispatcher
• Maintain professional appearance per ARC dress code

Operations Support

• Use DSS program and assigned iPad apps effectively
• Support beneficiaries in work therapy goals through training and mentoring
• Handle loading and unloading of trucks as needed
• Wear all assigned PPE including gloves, masks, and back guard
• Report any safety or security concerns immediately

Education & Experience

• High School Degree or equivalent
• At least two years licensed driving experience

Required Certifications

• Valid Driver's License with For-Hire Endorsement
• Clear MVR report

Physical Requirements

• Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
• Must regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds
• Occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds
