Job summary

The Salvation Army is hiring a Donation Pickup & Delivery Driver in Flint, MI. You will transport materials to and from destinations, represent the organization professionally, and ensure safe handling of goods. This full-time role includes early/late shifts and weekend availability.

Starting at $15.00 per hour, you will perform loading/unloading, wear PPE, and adhere to DOT/OSHA regulations while delivering excellent donor service and community impact.

Qualifications

  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • At least two years licensed driving experience
  • Must pass pre-employment DOT screen, drug test, and background check

Responsibilities

  • Drive Salvation Army truck for pickups and deliveries
  • Follow scheduled routing procedures efficiently
  • Ensure security and safe handling of all goods and materials
  • Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles
  • Maintain equipment in good working order
  • Comply with all DOT and OSHA regulations
  • Act as a representative of The Salvation Army to donors
  • Report pickup problems to dispatcher
  • Wear PPE and maintain professional appearance per ARC dress code
  • Use DSS program and iPad apps effectively
  • Support beneficiaries in work therapy goals through training and mentoring

Job Overview

Join our team in "Doing the Most Good" as a Production Assistant/Driver at our Adult Rehabilitation Center. We're seeking a professional and courteous driver to transport materials to and from specified destinations. This role is essential in representing The Salvation Army while providing exceptional service to our donors and maintaining efficient operations.

Pay Rate: $15.00/hr
Status: Full Time, 40 Hours per Week
Key Responsibilities
Transportation & Logistics
  • Follow scheduled routing procedures efficiently
  • Drive Salvation Army truck for pickups and deliveries
  • Ensure security and safe handling of all goods and materials
  • Perform daily pre and post-trip inspections of vehicles
  • Maintain equipment in excellent working order
  • Comply with all DOT and OSHA regulations
Customer Service
  • Act as a personal representative of The Salvation Army
  • Ensure all donors are treated courteously and respectfully
  • Communicate donation acceptance policy with donors
  • Report any pickup problems to dispatcher
  • Maintain professional appearance per ARC dress code
Operations Support
  • Use DSS program and assigned iPad apps effectively
  • Support beneficiaries in work therapy goals through training and mentoring
  • Handle loading and unloading of trucks as neededWear all assigned PPE including gloves, masks, and back guard
  • Report any safety or security concerns immediately
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • At least two years licensed driving experience
  • Must pass pre-employment DOT screen, drug test, and background check
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Basic computer skills including payroll system
  • Proficiency with mobile applications
  • Basic math skills
  • Excellent manual dexterity
  • Professional demeanor and customer service orientation
Required Certifications
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Clear MVR report
  • Successful completion of required testing
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to stand, use hands, handle, feel, hear, and talk
  • Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Must regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and focus adjustment
