Job summary

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center & Thrift Stores in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Box Truck Driver for local routes. This full-time role offers $20.00 per hour, with a 40-hour workweek, typically Monday to Friday and occasional weekends.

You will perform pickups and deliveries, conduct vehicle inspections, and ensure DOT/OSHA compliance while assisting with loading and unloading as needed. Excellent donor service is required.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent.
• At least two years licensed driving experience.

Box Truck Driver - Local & Surrounding Areas

Pay: $20.00 per hour Job Type: Part-time, Regular Schedule: 40 hours per week, M-F, some weekends possible

You'll represent The Salvation Army with professionalism, provide outstanding donor service, and ensure the safe and efficient transportation of donated items that support our mission.

What You'll Do

Transportation & Logistics

• Follow scheduled routing procedures efficiently
• Drive Salvation Army truck for pickups and deliveries
• Ensure security and safe handling of all goods and materials
• Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles
• Comply with all DOT and OSHA regulations
• Train and Certify New Production Assistants/Drivers

Customer Service

• Act as a personal representative of The Salvation Army
• Ensure all donors are treated courteously and respectfully
• Communicate donation acceptance policy with donors
• Report any pickup problems to dispatcher
• Maintain professional appearance per ARC dress code

Operations Support

• Use DSS program and assigned iPad apps effectively
• Support beneficiaries in work therapy goals through training and mentoring
• Handle loading and unloading of trucks as needed
• Wear all assigned PPE including gloves, masks, and back guard
• Report any safety or security concerns immediately

• High School Degree or equivalent
