East West Players (EWP) is a nonprofit arts organization whose mission is to produce artistic works and educational programs that foster dialogue exploring Asian Pacific experiences.
POSITION SUMMARY
This is a fully in-person position. The Box Office Manager assists with the Audience Services and Box Office Lead in the responsibility for ensuring that all patrons (subscribers, single ticket purchasers and group sales) attending EWP events have an excellent experience from point of purchase through attending performances. In addition, this position is responsible for managing Front of House staff, process and manual creation and upkeep, and assisting the Audience Services and Box Office Lead in the PatronManager ticketing system and other projects on a case-by-case basis.
GENERAL OVERVIEW:
● Represent East West Players’ policies and mission of producing artistic works and educational programs that foster dialogue exploring Asian Pacific experiences with ticket buyers, donors, funders, and artists.
● Troubleshoot any ticketing or customer service issues.
● Accurately input and maintain patron data and information.
● Maintain current knowledge of EWP , the shows, and the Little Tokyo neighborhood.
● Other duties as assigned.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Reconcile and close out daily box office transactions and reports, including balancing cash drawer and submitting box office daily report(s) to Management.
● Must be able to work at least 16 performances per productions (see attached addendum).
● Maintain, open, and close the Box Office at the David Henry Hwang Theater, including ensuring proper accounting for ticketing transactions.
● Ticketing transaction responsibilities include but are not limited to: Sales, exchanges, donations, group sales, printing, filing, mailing, distribution, and reconciliation.
● Maintain knowledge of box office systems and procedures, eventual expertise with ticketing software.
● Assist with hiring and training of Box Office and Front of House staff.
● Assist with scheduling and supervision of Box Office and Front of House staff.
● Assist in building seasons and shows on ticketing system(s), in which responsibilities include but are not limited to: Event Instances, Ticket Allocations, Seat Allocations, Discount Codes, and Seat Notes.
● Advise and assist with improvements to Patron Manager and Salesforce CRM systems.
● Assist in creation and upkeep of manuals and processes as needed.
● Recurring tasks including but not limited to: third party ticketing and reporting, inputting audience surveys into online forms, duplicate account and contact reports on PM, and processing ticket donation gifts.

This is a seasonal position specific to the Mainstage Productions for the remainder of EWP's 60th Anniversary Season. Please check out our website at www.eastwestplayers.org for more information.
In the case of rentals or special events that require use of the box office, EWP will reach out to the Box Office Manager for interest in working the event and availability.
The Box Office Manager is expected to be in person at every performance for the remainder of EWP’s 60th Anniversary Season. EWP is open to the Box Office Manager missing (2) performances per
show as long as these requests are communicated ahead of time - prior to the preview performances of each show.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Knowledge and essential skills
● 2 years of Box Office experience
● Expertise in a ticketing platform (Salesforce/Patron Manager preferred)
● Ability to manage and lead a diverse workforce
● Excellent customer service skills, speaking and writing skills
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
● Proficiency with Canva or other graphic design software
● Minimum requirements: Essential functions and abilities
● Experience making quick decisions in high-pressure and time-sensitive situations
● Front line patron service appearance and demeanor
● Ability to work long hours seated or standing
● A bility to maintain clean and organized shared work areas
● Ability to work well with other in confined spaces
