Job summary

The Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks a Border Patrol Agent to join a large federal force. You will perform inspections, enforcement, and patrols along borders using various assets, with emphasis on immigration and national security duties.

Starting at GL-5/7/9 or GS-11 levels, you may receive competitive pay, health and retirement benefits, and recruitment incentives up to $20,000, plus possible retention incentives. Training at the Border Patrol Academy follows hiring.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S. required.
• Bachelor's degree or combination of general work experience and college education.
• Knowledge of immigration and national security laws is essential.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of immigration/ customs violations.
• Patrol borders and coastal areas using diverse assets to deter illegal entry.
• Inspect documents and evidence to determine citizenship or violations.
• Follow procedures, issue reports, and cooperate with other agencies.
• Perform checks of farms, buildings, traffic, and transportation as needed.
