Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents across the United States. This full-time federal law enforcement role offers competitive base pay at GL-5 to GS-11 levels, attractive benefits, and career stability.

Duties include patrolling borders, questioning travelers, inspecting documents, and pursuing individuals in various locations using diverse assets. Recruitment and retention incentives of up to $20,000 (plus up to $30,000 over three years) are available.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of immigration and nationality law and related regulations.
• Experience with use of force policies and safety protocols.
• Familiarity with firearms handling and marksmanship.
• Ability to operate and drive government vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
• Interpret tracks and evidence of illegal entry and contraband.
• Conduct farm, building, traffic, city, and transport checks during patrols.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using diverse assets.
