Job summary

Customs and Border Protection seeks Border Patrol Agents to join a large federal law enforcement workforce. BPA roles include detecting and questioning individuals, inspecting documents, and patrolling diverse border areas with a range of vehicles and assets.

New agents will operate under the GL-5/7/9 or GS-11 grade levels with opportunities for advancement, competitive benefits, and a structured training program at the Border Patrol Academy.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating decision making and composure in stressful situations.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four‑year course of study.
• Combination of experience and education may qualify inter alia.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration or customs violations and inspect documents.
• Patrol the border and coastal areas using various government assets.
• Deter, detect, and apprehend undocumented individuals and contraband.
• Exercise investigative and reporting duties under the Border Patrol framework.
• Follow firearms and safety protocols as part of daily duties.
