Qualifications

• Knowledge of Immigration and Nationality Law (e.g., non-immigrant classifications, inadmissible noncitizens)
• Knowledge of Use of Force Policy (firearms and less-lethal devices)
• Knowledge of Criminal Law and Procedure
• Skill in using physical techniques (self-defense, baton, OC spray)
• Skill in using firearms and basic vehicle operation

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents and possessions
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and various assets
• Interpreting tracks, marks, and evidence of illegal entry
• Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks
• Patrolling borders and coastal waterways with vehicles, horses, vessels, and ATVs
