Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is recruiting Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) at the GL-5, GL-7, GL-9, or GS-11 levels. The BPA role supports national security by detecting and interdicting illegal entry and trafficking, with opportunities for career growth and comprehensive federal benefits.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and stay composed in stressful situations.
• A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study from an accredited college or university; OR a combination of experience and education.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and infrared scopes.
• Interpreting tracks, marks, and other evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels and other assets.
