Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) at the GL-5, GL-7, GL-9 or GS-11 levels with promotion potential to GS-12.

Positions offer competitive base pay, federal benefits, and retention incentives, including up to $50,000 in total recruitment/retention incentives. BPAs may be assigned to numerous duty locations nationwide, with opportunities for prioritized locations to enhance incentives.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of general work experience demonstrating the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and handle stressful situations.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
• Combination of general work experience AND college education can qualify.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of immigration and customs violations and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near borders using surveillance and various assets.
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways to fulfill the USBP mission.
