Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) for full-time, entry and mid-level positions.

Compensation includes base pay and federal benefits, with recruitment and retention incentives up to $20,000 and additional incentives up to $30,000. BPAs patrol borders and coastal areas using diverse assets; duties include questioning individuals, inspecting documents, and following tracks and evidence of illegal entry.

Qualifications

• Education Substitution: a bachelor’s degree or completion of a full four-year course leading to a bachelor’s degree.
• Combination of general work experience and education may be substituted for formal education.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration or customs violations and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near borders using various observation methods and assets.
• Interpret tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband; perform checks and patrols as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree
