Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) for full-time, entry- and mid-level positions across the United States.

BPAs safeguard the nation by enforcing immigration and customs laws, conducting document inspections, and patrolling borders with diverse assets. Compensation includes base pay with federal benefits, plus recruitment/retention incentives up to $20,000 and a strong Thrift Savings Plan.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and remain composed in stressful situations; OR
• A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree; OR
• A combination of general work experience and education submitted with the application.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using a variety of assets.
• Interpret tracks and evidence of illegal entry and perform checks across farms, buildings, traffic, and transportation.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels, or other government assets.
