Qualifications

• One year of general work experience or education substitution for GL-5 qualification.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course leading to a bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Note: advancement to higher grades (GL-7/GS-11) with appropriate experience/education requirements.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-operations techniques.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using a range of assets (vehicles, horses, vessels, etc.) to fulfill CBP mission.
