Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is urgently hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to fill full-time, entry and mid-level, career positions where education or prior experience in public safety may qualify.

Base pay is complemented by federal benefits and job stability, with recruitment and retention incentives offered. Duty locations span across designated sectors with opportunities to relocate within the United States.

Qualifications

• Education substitution: a bachelor’s degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; OR
• Combination of experience and education: combination of general work experience and college education submitted with application.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near borders using surveillance and night vision equipment.
• Interpreting and following tracks and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using various government assets to accomplish the USBP mission.
