Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is recruiting Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to join a large federal law enforcement workforce. The BPA role encompasses immigration enforcement, border surveillance, and duties across numerous duty locations with opportunities for advancement.

Base pay varies by grade (GL-5 to GS-11) with incentives up to $20,000 for recruitment and up to $30,000 for retention, along with health, dental, retirement plans, generous annual and sick leave, and the Thrift Savings Plan.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience or education to learn regulations, methods, and techniques.
• A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study from an accredited college or university.
• A combination of general work experience and education may qualify you.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of immigration or customs violations.
• Inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
• Maintain surveillance using various assets during night operations.
• Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways to fulfill the USBP mission.
