Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to join a large federal law enforcement workforce. BPA roles span entry and mid-career levels with opportunities for career development and relocation to prioritized duty locations across the United States.

Salary at multiple grades with benefits, recruitment incentives up to $20,000 and potential retention incentives. Training at the Academy and comprehensive health and retirement programs accompany base pay and stability

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Immigration and Nationality Law and related procedures.
• Knowledge of Use of Force policy and firearms safety.
• Familiarity with criminal law and investigative procedures.
• Experience with basic vehicle operations and mobility in field settings.
• Demonstrated ability to manage stress and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of visa or customs violations and inspect documents.
• Pursue and apprehend unlawful entrants near borders using varied assets.
• Interpret tracks or evidence of unlawful entry or contraband.
• Conduct farm/building/traffic checks and routine patrols.
• Patrol international boundaries and waterways using government vehicles and equipment.
