Job summary

Books-A-Million’s 2nd & Charles in Alabama is seeking an enthusiastic Associate who loves books and thrives on helping customers find their next great find. This hourly role is based in one of our 2nd & Charles retail store locations, with duties across the sales floor, register, and buyback as needed.

You’ll greet customers, assist with purchases, maintain displays, and collaborate with the team to keep the store inviting and well-stocked in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Customer service experience required.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Successful completion of all required background screenings.
• Loves books and has curiosity to learn about products.
• Strong communication and connection skills with customers and teammates.
• Ownership mindset with initiative and organization.
• Retail, customer service, buying, or merchandising experience preferred.
• Comfort with technology and cash registers.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers warmly and help them discover what they’re looking for.
• Drive sales by highlighting benefits and programs.
• Create inviting displays and keep shelves fresh.
• Handle transactions with care and maintain loss prevention standards.
• Support buyback, receiving shipments, inventory, fixtures, and store cleanliness.
