Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to manage bookkeeping, payroll and client service for our client base. You will post transactions, reconcile ledgers and prepare payroll in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and knowledge of GAAP. Familiarity with Xero is preferred. We offer competitive pay ($17–$20/hour) and opportunities for professional certifications.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and GAAP.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications or the ability to obtain certifications.
• Ability to interpret and apply instructions, policies and regulations.
• Ability to treat confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
• Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
