Job summary

H&R Block in Elizabeth City, NC seeks an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver accurate bookkeeping, payroll and client service. You will be integral to supporting our brand values and helping clients feel confident about their finances.

The role requires 1–3 years of bookkeeping, familiarity with GAAP, and certifications or the drive to obtain them; Xero experience is preferred. You’ll work with clients and franchise teams to maintain records and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications, or ability to obtain them.
• 1-3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and standard procedures.
• Ability to handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s; prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and growth opportunities.
