Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper in Roxboro, NC to manage daily bookkeeping, payroll processing, and client communications. You will post transactions, reconcile accounts, and prepare financial statements to support clients and the franchise network.

The role requires 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience and knowledge of accounting principles, with a focus on accuracy and discretion. Xero experience is preferred, and certification opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP practices and procedures.
• Ability to interpret and apply complete instructions, policies and regulations.
• Ability to treat confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
• Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
