Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper in Michigan to deliver accurate bookkeeping, payroll processing and responsive client service. You will post transactions, reconcile accounts, generate statements, and prepare payroll for clients, ensuring compliance with tax rules and practices.

In this role you’ll liaise with clients, suppliers and banking contacts, and contribute to client retention and growth opportunities while upholding confidentiality and professional standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications from the National Bookkeeping Association, or the ability to successfully obtain certifications.
• 1-3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and GAAP & procedures.
• Ability to interpret and apply instructions, policies and regulations.
• Ability to treat confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
• Analytical skills and an eye for details.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
