Job summary

H&R Block in Michigan is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver precise bookkeeping, payroll and client service. You’ll manage financial transactions, payroll processing, and financial statement analysis for diverse clients, supporting the brand’s mission to provide help and inspire communities.

The role requires 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience, knowledge of GAAP, and certification readiness. Experience with Xero is a plus, and you’ll join a collaborative team with strong growth

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications, or ability to obtain them.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
