Job summary

Synerfac Technical Staffing is seeking a meticulous Bookkeeper for a stable organization in the Durham area. The role covers general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll processing.

You will help with monthly close, generate financial reports for management, and ensure accurate, timely records. Ideal candidates have 3+ years’ bookkeeping experience, proficiency with QuickBooks or Sage, and solid Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience in a professional setting.
• Practical knowledge of general ledger accounting and double-entry bookkeeping.
• Hands-on payroll processing experience.
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or a comparable platform.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring financial accounts are accurate and properly supported.
• Record and post daily transactions, keeping books balanced and current.
• Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoice review and payment tracking.
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements regularly, research variances, and make corrections.
• Administer payroll accurately and on schedule while following relevant procedures and compliance requirements.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close activities.
• Prepare financial reports and summaries for management review.
• Maintain organized accounting records and respond to colleagues to resolve questions or discrepancies.
