Job description

Bookkeeper (Fractional, Part Time)

A growing, privately held manufacturing and Mid-Sized Sports orgainztion in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, is seeking a detail oriented, dependable Bookkeeper to join its team. We have two openings, each requiring approximately 10 to 20 hours per week. These positions can be structured as either W2 employment or a 1099 independent contractor arrangement.

Both roles offer long term opportunities with the potential to transition to full time employment. The positions offer exceptional flexibility, with the option to work remotely, in the office, or in a hybrid arrangement based on business needs and individual preferences.

The company offers an outstanding workplace culture and flexibility, where team members are valued, supported, and encouraged to grow. If you are looking for stability, work life balance, and the opportunity to build a long term career with a successful and growing organization, this is an excellent opportunity.

The successful candidate will initially focus on the day to day accounting and bookkeeping functions that keep the business running smoothly, including full cycle Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, payroll administration through ADP, and the coordination and payment of independent 1099 subcontractors.

Because of the company’s growth trajectory and the nature of small business operations, the current accounting workload does not require a full 40 hour workweek. This creates an ideal fractional accounting opportunity for an experienced professional seeking flexibility while making a meaningful contribution to the business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys accounting but also wants to broaden their skill set, contribute across multiple business functions, support operational efficiency, and grow with a company that values long term partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare weekly check runs, process vendor payments, and maintain positive vendor relationships.
  • Generate customer invoices, monitor outstanding receivables, and manage collections to support cash flow management.
  • Enter and maintain journal entries in QuickBooks Desktop 2024, including:
  • Adjusting journal entries
  • Accruals and prepaid expenses
  • Depreciation entries
  • Inventory adjustments
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and balance sheet accounts to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
  • Assist with month end and year end closing activities, account analysis, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Prepare accurate weekly financial reports for ownership, providing visibility into cash flow, operating expenses, and overall financial performance.
  • Maintain organized accounting records, financial documentation, and audit ready supporting schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with established accounting procedures, internal controls, and industry best practices.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with accounting, purchasing, and administrative projects as needed to support day to day business operations.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements, workflow optimization opportunities, and accounting best practices that improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support purchasing activities, vendor coordination, and administrative functions across the organization.
  • Perform general office support of daily operations.
Qualifications
  • Previous accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably within a small business, manufacturing, construction, or privately held company environment.
  • Strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping, general ledger accounting, and fundamental accounting principles.
  • Hands on experience managing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop 2024 is required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial data analysis, account reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with ownership, vendors, customers, and internal team members.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and manage multiple accounting tasks in a flexible, fractional work environment.
  • Manufacturing, construction, inventory accounting, or small business experience is preferred.
  • Experience with inventory controls, cost tracking, job costing, or operational accounting is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ADP payroll processing and 1099 subcontractor administration is highly desirable.
