Aardvark Tax Advisors is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our hybrid team in the Bay Area. You will maintain client financial records, process payroll, and support monthly close.

You will work with QuickBooks and Xero, collaborating with accountants and tax professionals to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of bookkeeping experience, an accounting-related degree, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of bookkeeping experience.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, Xero, or similar accounting platforms.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate client financial records, including general ledger entries and account maintenance.
• Record payroll transactions, expenses, and reimbursements; perform monthly bank and card reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; assist with month-end and year-end close.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for bookkeeping-related client needs; assist clients with accounting platforms.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper who values precision, client service, and continuous improvement.

The role is hybrid, based out of ourPleasanton, Cupertino, or Santa Cruzoffices.

Core Bookkeeping & Transaction Management

• Maintain accurate client financial records, including general ledger entries and account maintenance.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor bills, invoicing, payment tracking, and overdue accounts.
• Record payroll transactions, expenses, and reimbursements.
• Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.

Financial Reporting & Close

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Support month-end and year-end close and prepare financial information for tax filings and internal review.

Client Support

• Serve as a primary point of contact for bookkeeping-related client needs.
• Gather financial documentation and help clients use accounting platforms such as QuickBooks and Xero.

Collaboration & Technology

• Partner with accountants and tax professionals to keep bookkeeping and tax work accurate and coordinated.
• Maintain organized client records and documentation in firm systems.
• Adopt tools and workflow improvements that increase accuracy and efficiency.

Core Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2+ years of bookkeeping experience
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, Xero, or similar accounting platforms
• Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management

Preferred Skills

• Payroll processing experience
• Familiarity with U.S. tax regulations
• Experience supporting multiple clients in a fast-paced environment
• Accounting or bookkeeping certification

Work Environment

• Hybrid: generally three days per week onsite.
• Overtime may be required during peak tax seasons
• Remote or in-office work depending on firm needs
• Tax season requires full-time in-office
• Occasional client site visits may be required

Salary Range (Bay Area): $55,000 - $75,000

Salary Range (Non-Bay): $48,000 - $65,000
