Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services seeks a Journeyman with 3+ years of field experience in boiler/frame construction. You will read plans, mark reference points, align pieces, and assist crane operations in assembling vessels and supports.

You will flame-cut, fit, weld, bolt sections, and perform testing and maintenance in the field, with safety rules and proper documentation throughout the project.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with field experience.
• Ability to read plans and follow instructions under supervision.
• Familiarity with basic shop math and measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Locate and mark reference points for columns or plates on foundations and align with geometry.
• Attach rigging or signal crane operator to lift components to position.
• Align structures to assemble boiler frames using plumb bobs and levels.
• Flame-cut, fit, and weld sections to prepare edges for assembly.
• Bolting or welding structures and sections together.
• Position drums and headers into supports and secure them.
• Connect and expand ends to drums/headers using tube expander.
• Perform minor maintenance and cleanup with tools.
• Install manholes, valves, gauges, and feed water connections.
• Assist in testing vessels by pumping water/gas and check for leaks.
• Replace worn parts and repair boilers in the field.
