Job summary

Babcock & Wilcox in Akron, Ohio seeks a Proposal Specialist to lead cross-functional teams on large EPC opportunities (> $500M). The role focuses on technical and commercial strategy, scope, cost, and schedule, with emphasis on winning bids and producing best-in-class proposal documents.

You will collaborate with engineering, legal, supply chain, and project management, drive risk analysis, and utilize AI tools to improve quality and efficiency. Occasional overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• 20+ years in energy, petrochem or industrial sectors including engineering and project controls.
• 5+ years of proposal management or large EPC project management.
• Proficient in creating best-in-class proposal packages.
• Experience with commercial contracting.
• Knowledge of AI tools and their application in this role.
• Strong organization, communication, and presentation skills.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Analyze incoming project opportunities and build compliant strategic documents.
• Drive technical and commercial teams to present the best customer solution.
• Develop the initial Project Execution Plan with a broad technical team.
• Develop Price Approval documentation with risk assessment.
• Lead proposal teams and coordinate across functions for timely submissions.
• Utilize AI tools to improve submittal quality and efficiency.
• Produce budgets and conduct status updates and reviews.
• Adjust proposal scope from 1–2 pages to hundreds of pages as needed.
• Partner during post-bid follow-up including negotiations and turnover meetings.
• Directly manage engineering study and paid proposal contracts; maintain CRM data.
• Ensure smooth information transfer to the project team after award.
• Drive standardization of proposal content and processes.
• Mentor less experienced proposal managers.
• Leverage B&W knowledge to produce quality proposals.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
