Job summary

Vaagen Bros. Lumber, Inc. is seeking a Boiler Kiln Operator in Colville, WA to maintain a steady flow of inventory through the lumber drying process with emphasis on safety and productivity.

The role requires 5 years of boiler or water treatment experience and specialized boiler technology training. This is a 40+ hour weekly full-time safety-sensitive position with comprehensive benefits and a Lean transformation culture.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years previous experience in a boiler or water treatment role.
• Specialized training or college courses in boiler technology preferred
• Must be able to continuously stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders safely.

Responsibilities

• Operate boiler systems to achieve safe and environmentally sound steam production to meet plant heat and drying needs
• Regularly inspect boilers and related systems to identify potential issues or malfunctions
• Conduct regular tests and analysis of boiler water and steam to ensure proper chemical levels and quality
• Monitor and control fuel and energy consumption to optimize efficiency
• Maintain accurate records of boiler operations, maintenance activities, and repairs
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and servicing boilers, pipes, and valves
• Respond promptly to emergency situations or equipment failures to minimize downtime and safety hazards
• Float between departments to assist in areas of greatest need
• Know, Understand, and Apply Lock-out Tag-out procedures
• Entry level laborer sawmill duties such as stacking boards and general cleanup
