Job summary

Farmers Union Industries, LLC's Performance Pet Products division in Mitchell, SD is seeking an Industrial Utilities Technician to maintain boilers, ammonia and wastewater systems, and related production equipment. This role supports safety, compliance, and continuous manufacturing by performing preventative maintenance and rapid repairs to minimize downtime.

You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability, read schematics, operate tools, and participate in an on-site

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience working with ammonia, wastewater, or boiler systems.
• Willing to obtain ammonia and boiler certifications within the first year of employment.
• Ability to function as both independent contributor and team member.
• Awareness of food safety standards during maintenance.
• Experience with skid steers, forklifts, telehandlers, and scissors lifts; in-house certifications preferred.
• Knowledge of safety procedures: confined space entry, lockout/tagout, hot work.
• Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools.
• Read and understand signs, labels, warnings, manuals and wiring schematics.
• Proficient in basic math, measuring and data trends; record information.
• Understand basic computer systems; Redzone experience a plus.
• Willingness to work extra hours and overtime as needed.
• Capable of performing a safety-sensitive position.
• Able to work in a facility processing multiple proteins.
• Must be 18+ for insurance purposes.

Responsibilities

• Operate and perform preventive maintenance on boilers, ammonia and wastewater systems.
• Diagnose and repair pumps, valves and piping; monitor operating conditions.
• Complete work orders documenting materials and time.
• Respond to emergencies; work to minimize downtime.
• Maintain organized and safe work environment and safety practices.
• Assist in repair/replacement of production equipment as needed.
• Communicate safety concerns and maintenance needs to leadership.
• Coordinate with Parts & Inventory on procurement.
