Job summary

Performance Pet Products in Mitchell, SD is hiring a Plant Maintenance technician for 1st shift. You will repair and maintain production equipment, buildings, and grounds, while performing preventive maintenance and responding to equipment issues to minimize downtime.

Role requires mechanical or electrical manufacturing experience, willingness to learn boilers and wastewater systems, and adherence to food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing environment with mechanical or electrical discipline.
• Willingness to learn boilers, air compressors, and wastewater.
• Awareness of food safety standards in maintenance work.
• Experience with skid steers, forklifts, telehandlers and scissors lifts preferred; in-house certs welcomed.
• Knowledge of safety procedures such as confined space, lockout/tagout, and hot work.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance tasks.
• Repair or replace grinders, augers, pumps, motors, and gear boxes.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, mechanical systems and building systems.
• Maintain heating, plumbing, boilers, air compressors, and wastewater.
• Respond to emergencies promptly and minimize downtime.
• Properly hand off or complete repairs before leaving the facility.
• Safely operate skid steers, forklifts, telehandlers, and scissors lifts.
• Operate welding gear including acetylene torches, plasma cutters, TIG welders.
