Job summary

Farmers Union Industries, LLC, a Mitchell, SD-based manufacturer, is seeking a Plant Maintenance Technician for 1st shift. The role focuses on keeping production equipment running smoothly through preventive maintenance, repairs, and safety compliance.

You will inspect and repair grinders, pumps, motors, and building systems, while using forklifts, skid steers, and welding tools. The position requires flexibility for overtime and weekend work as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing environment with a mechanical and/or electrical discipline.
• Willingness to learn to operate boilers, air compressors, and wastewater systems.
• Awareness of food safety standards while maintaining equipment (if applicable).
• Experience with heavy equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance tasks.
• Maintain, repair, or replace grinders, pumps, motors, and gear boxes.
• Survey and repair electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and building systems.
• Safely operate and maintain lifting equipment and welding/fabrication tools.
• Complete work orders documenting materials used and time spent on maintenance tasks.
• Adhere to safety policies and regulatory compliance related to food safety and environment.
