Job summary

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC in Ladson, South Carolina seeks a Maintenance Engineer to boost safety, reliability, and performance of production equipment and automation systems. You will develop maintenance strategies, lead complex root-cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement across PLCs, robots, and controls.

You will coordinate with maintenance, production, and suppliers, support installations, commissioning, and capital projects while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant industrial maintenance, controls, automation, or equipment engineering experience.
• Experience diagnosing PLC hardware, distributed I/O, HMI, industrial networks, safety controls, and drives.
• Experience reading electrical schematics, control drawings, and equipment documentation.
• Experience with structured root cause analysis and technical problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements maintenance and reliability strategies to improve safety, availability, and performance.
• Leads complex equipment troubleshooting and root cause analysis using structured methods.
• Develops preventive, predictive, and total productive maintenance programs.
• Provides technical direction to maintenance staff during interruptions and upgrades.
• Coordinates installation, commissioning, and handover of automation projects.
