Job summary

SGS Consulting seeks an experienced engineer to develop and deploy BMS control software for new campus facilities. You will program Rockwell PLCs, create intuitive HMI interfaces, and perform on-site commissioning and testing.

You will validate field devices, write automation scripts, and ensure QAQC of PLC/SCADA code. Occasional travel up to 33% domestically and internationally is required, including long site deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering field.
• 4+ years in Industrial Controls / Automation.
• Proficient in Rockwell PLCs and Studio5000.
• Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition SCADA.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
• Strong collaboration skills and teamwork.
• Self-driven with solid organizational abilities.
• Analytical thinker with proactive problem-solving.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism.
• Willingness to travel up to 33% domestically and internationally.
• Develop applications to program equipment for new facility builds.
• Test/validate equipment before shipping and support onsite commissioning.
• Osha 10 Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop control programs for BMS systems using Function Block, scripting, and graphical interfaces.
• Design user-friendly graphical interfaces for BMS systems.
• Perform on-site startup, system checkout, commissioning, and programming.
• Validate and troubleshoot field devices, controllers, and equipment during point-to-point checkout.
• Adhere to established software development and documentation standards.
• Clearly communicate project status, challenges, and solutions.
• Collaborate with project teams and contractors to ensure successful commissioning.
• Create simulation software to test and validate project software.
• Deliver training sessions at customer sites or training centers.
• Develop and execute test scripts to verify BMS system performance.
• Support Managed Services by testing and resolving post-turnover issues.
• Assist in beta testing of new hardware/software to assess suitability for customer needs.
• Provision and manage servers or virtual machines to support project needs.
• Develop documentation for hardware/software installation guides.
• Perform QAQC checks on the PLC and SCADA code before initial delivery to the customer.
