Job summary
JLL is seeking a BMS Controls Engineer in Mountain View, CA to lead design reviews and implementation of HVAC building automation systems across client facilities. You will coordinate with engineers, technicians, and contractors to ensure best practices and adherence to client standards throughout design, commissioning, and operation phases.
The role requires 2+ years of HVAC controls experience, familiarity with BACnet/Modbus, and experience with major BMS platforms such as Tridium, Johnson
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or related field (associates with relevant experience may be considered)
- 2+ years of experience in facilities HVAC and control systems
- Experience with HVAC building automation systems and operating sequences
- Strong knowledge of control theory, HVAC systems, and building automation protocols (BACnet, Modbus)
- Experience with major BMS platforms (Tridium, Johnson Controls, ALC)
- Demonstrated HVAC engineering fundamentals, including trend analysis
Responsibilities
- Design reviews for HVAC controls projects to ensure compliance with standards and stakeholder expectations
- Technical review of control sequences and test plans
- Field inspections during implementation to verify scope and best practices
- Coordinate with project teams and represent client to address requirements
- Collaborate with clients, consultants, and contractors to meet project needs
- Manage multiple projects with budget and schedule adherence
- Provide progress reports and support the mechanical engineering team with controls guidance
- Identify process deficiencies and implement improvements
- Oversee installation and configuration of BMS/BOS hardware and software
- Oversee commissioning plans and troubleshoot system issues
- Clip-in controls programs for new systems on operation servers
- Evaluate operating trends and alarms post-clip-in to validate performance
- Monitor system performance and identify optimization opportunities
