Job summary

The American Red Cross is looking for Blood Collection Staff to support donor sessions in Baltimore, MD. You will assist throughout the blood collection process, interact with donors, and help ensure equipment setup and safety protocols are followed.

Paid training is provided with no prior medical experience required, offering a clear path to grow healthcare skills. The role may involve driving Red Cross vehicles and working a variable schedule that includes weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
• A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
• Physical requirements may include lifting, pushing or pulling heavy weights, long hours and irregular schedule changes are required.
• Minimum height of 60 inches may be required to operate vehicles safely.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required.
• Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.) is preferred.
• Prior leadership experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilize healthcare and/or customer service skills to assist with every step of the blood collection process.
• Collaborate with team to transport and setup equipment at collection sites in local communities.
• Create a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors.
• Follow all safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations.
• Take time to personally connect with donors and explain the impact of their donation.
• Ensure blood collected meets goals, regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused.
• May drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setup and teardown at donation sites.
• Work a variable schedule including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
