Job summary

American Red Cross is seeking a Blood Collection Staff member in Twin Falls, Idaho. You will assist with every step of the blood collection process, interact with donors, and help ensure safety procedures are followed.

Paid phlebotomy training is provided, and you will support the humanitarian mission by enabling lifesaving donations at collection sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication required.
• Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.

Job description

The Blood Collection Staff position involves assisting with the blood collection process including donor interaction, equipment setup, and ensuring safety procedures are followed. Paid phlebotomy training is provided, and the role supports the American Red Cross's humanitarian mission.

Responsibilities

• Utilize healthcare and/or customer service skills to assist with every step of the blood collection process
• Collaborate with team to transport and setup equipment at collection sites
• Create a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors
• Follow all safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations
• Take time to personally connect with donors and help them understand the impact of their donation
• Be detail oriented to ensure blood collected meets goals and regulatory requirements
• May drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setup and teardown of equipment at donation sites

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required
• A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required
• Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes are required
• Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to ensure the ability to safely operate Red Cross vehicles
• Basic computer skills are required
• Must be proficient with Microsoft office applications
• Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.) is a competitive advantage
• Prior leadership experience is a competitive advantage
